Infographic Poster '23

For my infographic poster topic, I chose the deep-sea creature the Angler Fish. This topic intrigues me so much because there is so much more about the deep sea, we don’t know about and are still discovering. It kind of scares me even to think that there are so many more different species down there that we can’t get to and study. Initially, I was going to go in the direction of the levels of the sea because the visual aspect would be cool. But after talking with my peers, I felt like it was too wide of a topic so I narrowed it down to creatures of the deep sea and then just to the designated Angler fish.

A lot of people don’t know much about the animals down in the deep sea because most of it hasn’t been fully discovered yet. While I was researching infographics for this fish, I didn’t see much which made me want to make it even more. Most people associate the angler with its appearance in Finding Nemo and the distinctive light on its head. That movie is geared to younger audiences but my poster will be for everyone interested in the topic. I feel like the visuals of my poster are more on the tween and older crowd given the sharp teeth of the fish. I wanted to shed more light on the topic of anglerfish because a lot of people don’t think that they could or would eat it as well as the different species there are. I was going in the direction of a watercolor type of design but then went the route of more cartoon illustrations which I felt better given its appearance in the animated film Finding Nemo.

I first started with a background with a series of colors from light to dark to create the illusion of depth. Then I illustrated the anglerfish separately and played around with their colors of them; they are green and orange but I went with purple to give it more of a playful feel. Since I found out that the Japanese prepare it, I most definitely wanted to incorporate it in the poster. Then to add more of a fun feel, I added purple text boxes to help the information stand out on the ombre backdrop.

Book Cover Project

In 2023, I designed these three book covers that had to utilize a poem or song. My chosen song was “yllw” by Bakar, for its richness and depth of interpersonal conflicts he’s going through. The three covers had to correlate to the song/poem of your choice; the song itself is slow and powerful with its dark words and I felt it was only right to make these covers shine with the person he’s losing in the song.

Lyric Video Animation

I made this animation in 2024, in my animation class. This project’s goal was to show the movement of the text and combined elements of images.

Short Film Trailers

Earlier work in 2019-21 with cinematography. The goal of these was to portray the tag lines best to their ability but keep the viewers on the edge and craving more. I work on these projects as camera operator and editor.
